Riding For Focus
Rogers DRAFT Meetup
Huntsville Middle School in Huntsville, AR is one of only 2 schools in Arkansas to receive the Outride Riding for Focus Program. Huntsville MS teaches the program within their 9-week SOAR program. The SOAR program allows students to select electives based on their interests and needs. Teacher Staci Williamson says that her Riding for Focus is one of the first to fill up. Community Champion Eric Blocker who was instrumental in getting the program says that the children are learning more than just how to ride a bike, they are learning responsibility. He says that the program is bringing the community together in a way that traditional spectator sports cannot and encourages the whole family to ride together.
Springdale DRAFT Meetup
Our 2nd DRAFT event this year was hosted in Rogers at the new Pedal it Forward facilities by the Rogers Activity Center. We had an amazing lineup of speakers centered around the night’s topic, equity. Sometimes these conversations can be tough, but our speakers handled it with ease using personal stories and inspiration.
Arkansas High Country Race
Our People For Bikes DRAFT Meet-up/NWA Bike Month Challenge Wrap-up Party was a great success! We met up at the new Bike Rack Brewing Company’s Springdale location where conversations flowed, prizes were awarded, and our speakers shared information around sustainability efforts, coffee buying, and pump-track programming!
In June our Special Projects Manager, Luke Hall completed the inaugural Arkansas High Country Race and the BikeNWA team could not be more proud! The inaugural year of the race covered 1,017 miles and over 80,000 ft. of elevation change. Fun fact, that’s almost three times up Mt. Everest!
