FAYETTEVILLE February 27th, 2017—Cyclists throughout the region will flock to Fayetteville to kick off the spring cycling season on Sunday, March 12th for the 12th Annual Highway 71 Classic Presented by Highroller Cyclery. Produced by Bike Fayetteville in partnership with Breakaway Cycling Club, the fully-supported ride features two out-and-back routes along Highway 71, making it a perfect event for amateur and experienced cyclists alike. The relatively flat 32-mile option is an excellent introduction to group road cycling, while the 71-mile option offers more experienced cyclists the opportunity to challenge themselves with two climbs and descents of Mt. Gaylor—once on the way out, and once on the way back. Both routes treat cyclists to the splendor of spring in the Ozarks.

Arsaga’s Coffee Roastery, Stone Mill Bread Company, and Ozark Natural Foods will provide hot coffee, fruit, pastries, and homemade PB&Js at the start and at aid stations along the route to keep cyclists fueled for the road ahead.

Proceeds from the Highway 71 Classic benefit Breakaway Cycling Club (a local junior road racing development team) and regional bike advocacy efforts to make Northwest Arkansas more bike-friendly through education, outreach, and infrastructure.
