NORTHWEST ARKANSAS February 3, 2017—To commemorate the one-year anniversary of fellow jogger Jen Bikel’s death, runners from the region will participate in a run departing at 11:30AM from the Sam’s Club Home Office’s main entrance, proceeding along the Razorback Greenway, and ending at approximately noon in front of Mellow Mushroom in Rogers, where participants, family, and friends will gather to lay flowers at the site of Jen’s death.

On the morning of February 3rd, 2016, Jen Bikel—self-professed TV addict, Yankees fan, avid reader, and newbie runner—was jogging on the roadside trail when a motorist pulling out of a parking lot struck and killed her. She was 40 years old.

In the wake of Jen’s tragic death, the cycling and running communities joined together to launch Travel with Care NWA, a nonprofit initiative under the auspices of BikeNWA dedicated to promoting safety awareness for drivers, cyclists, runners, and pedestrians.

Travel with Care NWA will host its first annual Winter Warm-Up fundraiser on Saturday, February 11th, from 6-9PM at the Sauder Showroom (1109 SW A St.) in Bentonville. Tickets include dinner (provided by Baller Foodtruck), drinks, and a silent auction featuring active lifestyle items donated by local bike and running shops. Proceeds fund Travel with Care NWA’s work to make Northwest Arkansas a safer, happier, healthier place.
